KM2000 Combat Knife

The KM2000, short for Kampfmesser 2000 or Combat Knife 2000, is the standard issue combat knife of the German Bundeswehr, manufactured by Eickhorn-Solingen. It carries a 172 millimeter laser cut stainless steel blade in a Westernized tanto style, one of the few tanto pattern military knives issued in significant numbers, weighs about 320 grams, and has an ergonomic ambidextrous polyamide handle. The knife includes a serrated section for cutting rope and fabric, a glass breaker tip, and a sheath compatible with MOLLE and PALS webbing that carries a built in diamond sharpener. Later versions produced from 2008 onward use improved steel alloys for better edge retention, and desert variants known as the KM1000 and KM3000 also exist, though the standard KM2000 remains the model issued throughout the German Army.
