The M60 is a family of American general purpose machine guns firing the 7.62x51mm NATO cartridge from a disintegrating belt of M13 links, manufactured by Saco Defense and later U.S. Ordnance. Type classified in 1957, it was adopted and issued to units beginning in 1960.
