The Mark 46 is a lightweight American anti-submarine torpedo whose Mod 0 version entered service in 1963, with the improved Mod 5 following in 1979. It forms the backbone of the US Navy's lightweight torpedo inventory and the NATO standard, launched from aircraft, ships and anti-submarine rockets, and it has been supplied to more than 35 nations across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, South America and Oceania.
