The MAX 1.2 AC is a Brazilian anti-tank guided missile developed by SIATT, based on the MAF project of the Italian firm Oto Melara, with Brazilian involvement beginning in 1986 and a prototype approved in 2004. A pilot batch was delivered in 2013 and 2014, the system was homologated in June 2024, and a serial production contract was signed in February 2025, after a development span of more than thirty years. It measures 1.38 to 1.52 meters in length, weighs 52 kilograms including its launch tube and firing unit, reaches a top speed of 274 meters per second, and carries a HEAT shaped charge warhead rated to penetrate 530 millimeters of rolled homogeneous armor at a range of at least 2,000 meters, guided by laser semi-automatic command to line of sight and fired by a two-person infantry team or from a vehicle mount. The system was hastily deployed to Roraima in late 2023 during the Guyana-Venezuela crisis to counter Venezuelan T-72 tanks.
