MGM-31 Pershing

The MGM-31A Pershing was a solid fueled two stage theater ballistic missile designed and built by Martin Marietta as the United States Army's primary nuclear capable theater level weapon. Development began in 1958 with the first test in 1960, and the Pershing 1 entered service in 1963, followed by the improved Pershing 1a in 1969. The system was replaced for American forces by the Pershing II in 1983, though West Germany kept its Pershing 1a units until they were eliminated in 1991 under the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty.
