The Norinco Type 86S, known in Chinese as the 86S automatic rifle, is a bullpup rifle of the AKM type produced by the Chinese manufacturer Norinco. Many of its major parts can be exchanged with those of other standard Kalashnikov rifles. The Type 86S was designed for export to the United States, where civilian ownership of short-barrelled rifles is restricted by law. According to the article it was made in the 1980s, fires the 7.62x39mm cartridge from a 30-round detachable box magazine, and uses a gas-operated action with a rotating bolt.
