The P-120 Malakhit is a Soviet medium-range anti-ship missile designed by Zvezda for use by corvettes and submarines, carrying the NATO reporting name SS-N-9 Siren. It entered service with the Soviet Navy in 1972 to overcome the extended surface exposure earlier submarine-launched missiles required, and it remains in limited Russian Navy service today, though mostly superseded by the P-270 Moskit. The missile weighs about 3,180 kilograms and carries either a high-explosive semi-armor-piercing warhead or a 200-kiloton nuclear warhead, reaching roughly 150 to 160 kilometers when armed with the nuclear warhead.
