The PM M1910 (Pulemyot Maksima obraztsa 1910 goda, the Maxim machine gun model of 1910) is a Russian heavy machine gun derived from the British-designed Maxim gun. It was the main water-cooled machine gun of the Imperial Russian Army, Navy and Air Service in World War I, was used by the Red, White and Green armies in the Russian Civil War, and served the Soviet Armed Forces through World War II. The 1910 model replaced the bronze water jacket of the earlier Russian M1905 with a lighter steel one, cutting the weight of the gun and its water. Later Soviet changes in 1930 and 1941 eased firing, aiming and winter filling, and wartime simplification sped up production. The Soviets began replacing it with the SG-43 in 1943. It was phased out after the war but still reached the Korean War and the Vietnam War, and old stocks were again used in the war in Donbas.
