PTM-3 mine

Grenades And Explosives

The PTM-3 is a Soviet scatterable, self-liquidating shaped-charge anti-tank mine. Its stamped steel case has notches in its sides that let it form a shaped charge effect on five faces, four sides and one end. It has two arming stages, pyrotechnic and mechanical, and a battery-powered magnetic influence fuze, the BT-06. It cannot be laid by hand and is delivered by remote minelaying systems, including rocket launchers such as the BM-21 Grad, BM-27 Uragan and BM-30 Smerch, the VSM-1 helicopter system, the UMZ mining machine and the portable PKM kit. Each mine rides in a KPTM-3 cassette. Arming takes about sixty seconds after the thermal sensor triggers. It goes off when a vehicle disturbs its magnetic field and self-destructs 16 to 24 hours after laying if no target appears. It was introduced in 1951, and during the Russo-Ukrainian war it has been dropped from Shahed drones.
