Pye Wacket was the codename for an experimental air-to-air missile of unusual lenticular, or lens-like, shape, developed from 1957 by the Convair Division of the General Dynamics Corporation. It was intended as a defensive missile for the B-70 Valkyrie, a planned Mach 3 bomber, and was to be launched from the XB-70. The design used three solid-fuel rocket motors, midcourse autopilot guidance and infrared homing for the terminal phase. The program saw extensive wind-tunnel testing and seemed promising, but the cancellation of the B-70 removed the requirement for the missile and the project was cancelled as well. Pye Wacket was therefore never produced and never entered service.
