Remington Model 700

The Remington Model 700 is a bolt action centerfire rifle designed by engineer Mike Walker and manufactured by Remington Arms in the United States since 1962, with more than five million produced. Its action became the basis for two rifles built specifically for military service, the M40 adopted by the United States Marine Corps in 1966 and the M24 Sniper Weapon System adopted by the United States Army in 1986, both of which remain in active use. Variants and derivatives of the design have also appeared in the hands of combatants in the Lebanese Civil War and the Nicaraguan Revolution.
