Roketsan Cirit

Missiles And Guided Munitions

Cirit is a Turkish laser-guided 70 mm missile developed by Roketsan and named after a traditional Turkish horseback javelin game. It uses a semi-active laser homing seeker and was designed to give attack helicopters such as the Turkish Army's T-129 Atak and AH-1 Cobra variants a low-cost precision strike capability. Design work began in 2004, it was first shown publicly at IDEF 2007, and it has been in production since 2010. Rather than a guidance kit added to existing unguided rockets, Roketsan built Cirit as a complete round with its own seeker, a multipurpose insensitive-munition warhead and a reduced-smoke motor, with a maximum effective guided range of 8 km. It can be fired from existing 70 mm launchers such as the LAU-61 and LAU-68. Deliveries to the Turkish Armed Forces began in 2012 and to the United Arab Emirates in 2014, and a later truck-mounted system uses it as a counter-drone weapon.
