RPO Rys

The RPO Rys is a Soviet napalm-loaded rocket-propelled grenade launcher classified as a flamethrower, entering service in 1975 to replace the obsolete LPO-50 backpack flamethrower and later superseded in turn by the RPO-A Shmel. It fires a 110 millimeter cartridge at a muzzle velocity of 125 meters per second, weighing 3.2 kilograms empty and 12.6 kilograms loaded with its 9.4 kilogram cartridge, and has an effective range of about 190 meters and a maximum range of 400 meters. Soviet and Russian forces have used it in the Soviet-Afghan War, the First Chechen War and the Russo-Ukrainian War.
