The S-400 Triumf is a mobile long range surface to air and anti ballistic missile system developed by the Almaz Antey design bureau of Russia, an evolution of the earlier S-300 family. It was approved for service in April 2007 and reached initial combat readiness in August 2007. Its longest range interceptor missile, the 40N6, is reported to reach out to about 400 kilometers, and the system can be networked with the Pantsir short range air defense system. The S-400 has been exported and deployed by several countries and has seen use in conflict zones including Syria and Ukraine.
