The Sd.Kfz. 6 (Sonderkraftfahrzeug 6, meaning special purpose vehicle) was a German half-track used by the Wehrmacht in the Second World War. Development of the medium artillery tractor began in 1934 at Büssing-NAG in Berlin, and the vehicle was designed mainly to tow the 10.5 cm leFH 18 howitzer, with a secondary role hauling engineer equipment. Production was carried out by Büssing-NAG and Daimler-Benz. It could carry up to 11 men in three rows under a canvas structure, and its engine gave 90 to 115 hp depending on the production version. The Army, the Waffen-SS and the Luftwaffe all used it for the entire war. Variants included the Sd.Kfz. 6/2, which mounted a 3.7 cm Flak 36 anti-aircraft gun, with 203 built for the Luftwaffe from 1939 to 1941, and the Sd.Kfz. 6/3, a tank destroyer carrying a captured Soviet 76 mm gun in an armored superstructure.
