Smith & Wesson Model 3

The Smith & Wesson Model 3 is a single action, cartridge firing, top break revolver manufactured in the United States by Smith and Wesson from about 1870 to 1915, notable as the first standard issue cartridge firing revolver adopted by the United States Army. It was also produced under license by Ludwig Loewe and Company and the Tula Arsenal, chambered variously in .44 Russian, .44 Smith and Wesson American, .38 Smith and Wesson, .44-40 Winchester and .45 Schofield, and it armed forces of the United States, the Russian Empire, Japan, the Ottoman Empire, Argentina, Canada, Australia, Spain and Portugal, among others.
