Storm Shadow Missile

Storm Shadow, also known in French service as SCALP EG, is a long-range, low-observable air-launched cruise missile jointly developed by France and the United Kingdom and manufactured by MBDA, formerly known as Matra BAe Dynamics, entering service in 2003. Weighing about 1,300 kilograms with a 450 kilogram conventional warhead, the missile cruises at roughly 0.8 times the speed of sound to a range of around 250 kilometers, guided by a combination of satellite navigation, inertial navigation and infrared imaging matched against a stored terrain and target profile to achieve precision strikes on high-value fixed targets such as command centers, airfields, ports, power stations and ammunition depots. British and French forces have used Storm Shadow operationally in Iraq, Libya, Syria and Yemen, and Ukraine has employed supplied Storm Shadow missiles against Russian military infrastructure since 2023.
