Su-57

The Su-57 is a Russian single-seat, twin-engine fifth-generation stealth multirole fighter developed by Sukhoi, first flown in prototype form in 2010 as Russia's answer to American fifth-generation designs such as the F-22 and F-35, and intended to combine stealth shaping, supercruise, advanced sensor fusion and very high maneuverability drawing on Sukhoi's long lineage of highly agile combat aircraft. Development proceeded far more slowly than originally planned, hampered by funding shortfalls, the withdrawal of original partner nation India, and technical delays, so that the type entered only limited operational service with the Russian Aerospace Forces in the early 2020s, with production numbers remaining small compared with Western fifth-generation programs. Russia has stated its intention to export the Su-57, and the aircraft has reportedly seen limited combat use over Ukraine following Russia's 2022 invasion, though independent confirmation of its role and performance in that conflict remains harder to verify than for more widely fielded types.
