The TEC-9, along with its variants the TEC-DC9, KG-99 and AB-10, is a blowback operated semi automatic pistol made by the American manufacturer Intratec, a subsidiary of the Swedish firm Interdynamic AB, and designed by George Kellgren. Introduced in 1984 and built from inexpensive molded polymer and stamped or milled steel, more than 250,000 were sold before production ended in 2001. The pistol became notorious in American popular culture for its association with gang crime, drive by shootings and mass shootings during the 1990s.
