The Type 19 is a Japanese wheeled 155 mm self-propelled howitzer built by Japan Steel Works on a Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles HX44M 8x8 chassis, designed to replace Japan's ageing FH70 towed howitzers as a more affordable counterpart to the tracked Type 99 155 mm self-propelled howitzer. It entered service in 2020 exclusively with the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, with about 70 vehicles ordered as of 2025, and reaches an effective range of 30 kilometers with standard ammunition or 40 kilometers with base-bleed rounds.
