The UR-100 was a Soviet intercontinental ballistic missile developed and deployed from 1966 to 1996. Its designation stands for Universal Rocket. NATO called it the SS-11 Sego, and inside the Soviet Union it carried the GRAU index 8K84. It was a two-stage liquid fuel missile with inertial guidance, designed by the bureau of Vladimir Chelomey and built at several Soviet aviation plants, including the Khrunichev Machine-Building Plant. It carried a warhead of about one megaton and had a range of roughly 10,600 kilometers. The Strela and Rokot space launch vehicles were later based on it. The similar designation UR-100MR is a different and unrelated missile, the MR-UR-100 Sotka, known as the SS-17 Spanker.
