Varunastra is an Indian heavyweight anti-submarine torpedo developed by the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation, formally inducted into the Indian Navy on 26 June 2016. Its name is drawn from Hindu mythology, referring to a legendary weapon of the god Varuna, though the modern torpedo is a distinct engineered weapon rather than the mythological object itself.
