The VCM-01 is a family of subsonic anti-ship cruise missiles developed in Vietnam by the Viettel Aerospace Institute. The first photograph of a missile with this designation appeared in 2019, and the model looked externally identical to the Russian Kh-35. Public documents show at least two test firings, in Nghe An and Thai Binh provinces, and in late 2023 the missile was reported mounted on a former Shershen-class torpedo boat for sea trials. In 2024 coastal defence systems using the missile were reported delivered to Brigade 679 of the Vietnam People's Navy, confirming service entry, and a later convoy sighting suggested deployment with Brigade 680. The article also separates the VCM-01 from the so-called KCT-15 project, which it says was a training program for the Kh-35 and not a Vietnamese missile project.
