The Webley-Fosbery Automatic Revolver is a recoil-operated, self-cocking revolver designed by George V. Fosbery and patented in 1895, manufactured by Webley and Scott in the United Kingdom from 1901 to 1924 in a production run of about 4,750. Its action, cylinder and barrel assembly recoil together to rotate the cylinder and cock the hammer, giving a smoother, more consistent trigger pull than a manually cocked revolver and making it popular with target shooters, though its 44-ounce weight and tendency to jam in field conditions kept it from military adoption.
