The Zastava M76 is a semi-automatic sniper rifle designed in 1975 by Zastava Arms of Yugoslavia and issued from 1976 to specialists of the Yugoslav Army. It is built on the Kalashnikov gas-operated action used in the earlier M70 series of rifles, but it is chambered for the 7.92x57mm Mauser cartridge instead of the 7.62x39mm Soviet round, and it has a longer barrel, a ten-round detachable box magazine and a side rail that accepts optical sights. It can be fielded either as a designated marksman rifle or as a sniper rifle, and it is often compared with the Soviet SVD family. The rifle was used by several parties during the Yugoslav Wars of the 1990s. It was later replaced in the Serbian Army by the Zastava M91, and it has also served in the armies of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Macedonia. North Korea has produced the type locally under the name JeoGyeokBoChong.
