The Zastava M91 is a semi-automatic designated marksman rifle made by Zastava Arms in Serbia and chambered for the 7.62x54mmR cartridge. It is internally an elongated version of the AK-47 action, as was its predecessor, the Zastava M76, but its outward shape, with a thumbhole polymer stock, slotted flash suppressor, detachable 10-round box magazine and milled receiver, follows the Soviet Dragunov rifle much more closely. It belongs to Serbia's Model-21 modernisation plan, which called for replacing weapons in 7.92x57mm Mauser, such as the M76, with a domestically developed arm in the newer cartridge. A left-side receiver rail takes the ZRAK ON 6x42 daylight scope or PN 5x80 night sights, and adjustable iron sights reach 1,000 m, though the best results come at ranges up to about 800 m. The chrome-lined barrel has four right-hand grooves. The rifle serves in the Serbian Army and has also been reported with users in Iraq, Myanmar (as the MAS-1 MK-II copy), Syria and Yemen.
