This is a child group of Assault Rifles, collecting the Small Arms And Sidearms subcategory's assault rifles developed in the United States: the ArmaLite AR-18 and AR-15 platform lineage that produced the M16 rifle and M4 carbine, the M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle adopted from the German HK416 design, the CAR-15 family Colt marketed from the 1960s, and later American service and prototype designs including the M7 rifle and the XM29 OICW prototype built for the United States Army's Objective Individual Combat Weapon program.
