The Mongol conquests took place during the 13th and 14th centuries, as the Mongol Empire (1206-1368) fought and subdued numerous states including the Western Xia, the Jin dynasty, the Song dynasty, and polities across Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, creating the largest contiguous land empire in history and covering, by 1260, a significant portion of Eurasia. The Mongol Empire began to fragment from 1260, with Mongol rule ending at different times in different regions.
