Second Balkan War

The Second Balkan War was fought from June to August 1913, when Bulgaria, dissatisfied with its share of the territory won in the First Balkan War, attacked its former allies Serbia and Greece. Romania and the Ottoman Empire quickly joined the fighting against Bulgaria as well, each seizing the opportunity to gain territory of its own. Bulgaria was rapidly defeated on multiple fronts, and the resulting Treaty of Bucharest in August 1913 forced it to cede substantial territory to its neighbors, leaving Bulgaria isolated and deeply resentful of the settlement.
