The Altay is a Turkish fourth-generation main battle tank designed by Otokar and based on the South Korean K2 Black Panther, produced by BMC with design assistance and technology transfer from Hyundai Rotem. It is named for Army General Fahrettin Altay, who commanded the 5th Cavalry Corps in the final stage of the Turkish War of Independence, and it is fitted with an MKE 120mm main gun, Roketsan composite armor, and Aselsan electronics including an active protection system. The tank officially entered service on October 28, 2025.
