The AR-M1 is a Bulgarian assault rifle made by Arsenal AD, a modernized derivative of the AK-47 Type 3 variant produced since 1998 and in service by 2000, chambered in either 5.56x45mm NATO or 7.62x39mm. Built primarily for export, it uses a milled receiver rather than the stamped receiver of the AKM, along with a polymer stock, handguard, and AK-74-style flash hider and bayonet mount, and has been adopted by military and police forces across Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
