The ArmaLite AR-10 is a 7.62x51mm NATO battle rifle designed by Eugene Stoner and introduced by ArmaLite in 1956. It combined a straight line barrel and stock layout with a phenolic composite handguard and barrel jacket and a gas operated action, and although fewer than 10,000 were produced, its design became the direct ancestor of the AR-15 rifle platform.
