The BA-64 was a Soviet four-wheeled armored scout car built by GAZ on the chassis of the GAZ-64 or GAZ-67 jeep, with a hull loosely modeled on the German Sd.Kfz. 221. Developed between July and November 1941 to replace the BA-20 in Red Army armored car units, it was accepted for service on March 14, 1942, and mass production began in 1943; cheap and exceptionally reliable, over 9,000 were built, making it the most common Soviet wheeled armored fighting vehicle of the Second World War.
