Bulsae-4

Missiles And Guided Munitions

The Bulsae-4, whose name means Phoenix-4 in Korean, is a North Korean anti-tank guided missile that North Korean state media has called the most advanced anti-tank weapon system in the world. It bears external similarities to the Israeli Spike and has features comparable to the American FGM-148 Javelin and the Chinese HJ-10. It uses an electro-optical seeker with command guidance, so the missile can be steered by a video signal over optical cable or radio, and it can strike from cover without a direct line of sight, although it depends on reconnaissance drones to find targets. Its range is estimated at 10 to 25 kilometres. It is built as a modular system that can be mounted on a 6x6 armoured vehicle with up to eight tubes or on a six-tube pickup truck, and a shoulder-fired version is reported to be in development. The combat vehicle appeared in 2010 and the missile around 2018. Bulsae-4 systems were reported in use by Russian forces in Ukraine from 2024, and Kim Jong Un ordered production expanded in January 2026.
