EM-2 rifle

The EM-2, also known as Rifle, No. 9, Mk. 1, or the Janson rifle, is a British assault rifle designed by Stefan Kenneth Janson and briefly adopted by the British Army in 1951. It used an innovative compact bullpup layout with a built in carrying handle and optical sight and fired the intermediate .280 British cartridge, but the government of Winston Churchill withdrew it soon after adoption in favor of pursuing a standardized NATO rifle cartridge, and it saw only very limited service before being abandoned in favor of the more powerful 7.62x51mm NATO round.
