The FARA 83 is an assault rifle designed by Enrique Chichizola and manufactured by FMAP-DM for the Argentine armed forces during the 1980s, chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO. It was one of the first indigenously designed assault rifles built in South America, with production running from 1984 to 1990 and roughly 1,193 units completed before economic constraints ended manufacturing.
