The FB Tantal, formally the karabinek wzor 1988 or Carbine Model 1988, is a 5.45x39mm assault rifle designed and produced in Poland in the late 1980s by FB Radom, the Lucznik Arms Factory. Design work by the OBR research institute in Radom began officially in 1984, building on preliminary studies of 5.45mm weapons from late 1980, and the rifle was produced from 1989 to 1994 in a run of about 25,000 units before formally entering service with the Polish Army in 1991.
