The FN-6 is a Chinese man portable surface to air missile system, a third generation passive infrared homing weapon developed by the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology from the earlier HN-5 missile. It entered service around 2000 under the domestic designation HN-6, with FN-6 used for export sales, and became one of China's most widely exported shoulder fired air defense systems. An improved variant, the FN-16, was later shown publicly at the 2012 Zhuhai Airshow with enhanced infrared and ultraviolet guidance.
