The Heckler & Koch HK41 is a semi-automatic version of the Heckler & Koch G3 battle rifle, built in West Germany from 1964 to 1976 for civilian sale and for West German military reservists who needed a rifle handling like the service G3. It fires the 7.62x51mm NATO cartridge through a roller-delayed blowback action, weighs 10.9 pounds, has a 19.7 inch barrel and a 42.5 inch overall length, and was offered with 5 round, 20 round, or 50 round drum magazines in a fixed stock version, the HK41A2, or a retractable stock version, the HK41A3. Fewer than 400 were ever made, with an even smaller number imported into the United States for civilian ownership.
