A kodachi, meaning small or short tachi, is one of the traditionally made Japanese swords used by the samurai class of feudal Japan. Kodachi date from the early Kamakura period, 1185 to 1333, and are shaped like a tachi, mounted in tachi style but with a length under 60 centimeters, which leads them to be often confused with the wakizashi.
