The MPT, from the Turkish Milli Piyade Tufegi or National Infantry Rifle, is a family of AR-15 style rifles designed by Turkey's MKE and produced under license by manufacturers including MKE, Sarsilmaz Arms and Kalekalip. It has replaced older rifles in Turkish Armed Forces service, including the Heckler & Koch G3 and HK33, and has been fielded since 2014 in variants chambered for 5.56x45mm NATO, 7.62x51mm NATO and 6.8x51mm depending on role, from the standard MPT-55 assault rifle to the MPT-76 battle rifle and its designated-marksman derivative, the KNT-76.
