The Model 1913 Cavalry Saber is a United States cavalry sword designed in 1913 by then-Second Lieutenant George S. Patton Jr., later a General. Issued during the First World War, it became the last sword used by the U.S. Cavalry, though it proved militarily obsolete in practice: mounted units that carried it saw limited saber action and generally fought dismounted, using their horses mainly for transportation rather than as platforms for saber combat.
