The Panhard 178, officially the Automitrailleuse de Decouverte Panhard modele 1935 and nicknamed Pan-Pan, was a French 4x4 reconnaissance armored car designed for France's cavalry units before the Second World War, carrying a crew of four with a 25mm main gun and a 7.5mm coaxial machine gun. It entered service in April 1937, and after the fall of France in 1940 a number of captured vehicles were pressed into German service as the Panzerspahwagen P204(f), with production continuing under German control for several months before an improved postwar version, the Panhard 178B, resumed French production.
