The Pedersen rifle is a United States semi-automatic rifle designed by John Pedersen in the 1920s and tested by the US Army as part of a program to find a replacement for the M1903 Springfield. Chambered for the .276 Pedersen cartridge and operating on a toggle-delayed blowback action, fewer than 150 were built, primarily for trials, under the designation T1E3. The Army ultimately chose the .30 caliber M1 Garand instead, though the Pedersen rifle's testing shaped the competition that led to the Garand's adoption.
