The PP-2000 is a Russian submachine gun designed by V.P. Gryazev, B.I. Kuznetsov and A.I. Rasskazov at the KBP Instrument Design Bureau, developed between 1993 and 1997 as a compact close quarters weapon for riot police and special operations forces, with production beginning in 2006. It fires the 9x19mm Parabellum cartridge, including armor piercing 7N21 and 7N31 loads, and has been issued to Russia's air force, ground forces and Ministry of Internal Affairs as well as police and special forces in Armenia and Kazakhstan.
