The Remington Rolling Block rifle is a family of breech loading rifles produced from the mid-1860s into the early twentieth century by E. Remington and Sons, later Remington Arms. Designed by Joseph Rider, who refined an action that became known as the Remington System, the rifles were manufactured in numerous rimfire and centerfire calibers. They were adopted by militaries worldwide beginning with Sweden and Norway in 1867 and saw extensive military and civilian use into the First World War era.
