S&T Daewoo XK8

Small Arms And Sidearms

The S&T Daewoo XK8, also called the DAR-21 for Daewoo Assault Rifle 21st Century, is a South Korean bullpup assault rifle chambered for the 5.56x45mm NATO cartridge. The Korean defense firm S&T Daewoo developed and built it as a possible replacement for the Daewoo Precision Industries K2 rifle used by the Republic of Korea Armed Forces. It is notable as the first firearm that company developed entirely on its own initiative, without a request from the military. The Republic of Korea Army Special Warfare Command field tested it, but the rifle was rejected and never went into mass production, so only preproduction prototypes exist and it was never a fielded service weapon.
