The Smith & Wesson M&P15 is an AR-15 style semi-automatic rifle chambered mainly in 5.56x45mm NATO/.223 Remington, made in the United States by Smith & Wesson. It was introduced at the 2006 SHOT Show, marking the company's return to long gun manufacturing after decades of focusing on handguns, and was designed to serve both police departments and the civilian consumer market.
