Starstreak is a British short-range surface-to-air missile that can be used as a man-portable air-defense system or mounted in heavier vehicle systems, manufactured by Thales Air Defence in Belfast. After launch it accelerates past Mach 4, the fastest short-range surface-to-air missile in service, then releases three laser beam-riding submunitions to increase the likelihood of a hit, and it has served with the British Army since 1997.
