The T-84 is a Ukrainian main battle tank based on the Soviet T-80 family, specifically its diesel-engine T-80UD variant introduced in 1976. It was first built in 1994, and ten vehicles entered service with the Ukrainian Armed Forces in 1999 under the name BM Oplot; its high-performance opposed-piston engine gives it a power-to-weight ratio of about 26 horsepower per tonne, comparable to other modern main battle tanks.
